42. Ancillary Task 1 draft 2

This is our first draft of our video game magazine advert, we are very happy with this so far in comparison to the video game cover because it looks a lot more professional. However changes still need to be made, an example being the issue number and barcode are on the advert which is misleading as that is usually found on the front cover of a magazine. Ours is an advert which will be found in a game magazine. We will make these changes next lesson and update it for our second draft.

41. Ancillary Task 1 draft 1

This is the first draft for our ancillary task, we are unsatisfied with it at the moment as it doesn't link well with our other products, an example being the colour scheme has changed slightly which shows their is no continuity used throughout.

40. Main Task draft 1

This is a rough edit of our main task which we created this week, we are happy with what we have produced so far but there are many changes that need to be made for it to compete with existing video game adverts, for example our editing seems a bit loose at times and the close ups of Ross seem a bit out of place. We will work on these changes in next lesson to ensure it looks professional for our target audience.

38. Drafts of Copy

Here are some examples of the work we created in today's lesson, we used Adobe Photoshop again to create these. We are happy with the first attempt as it looks the most appealing to our target audience. Below is a magazine produced by gamer and it is analysing Medal of Honour.

36. Photo-Shoot Plan

We use this photo-shoot plan to organise and structure our time more effectively with the different camera angles and equipment we will use.
  • In what environment will you be photographing?  Everything will be shot in the media recording studio using the green screen.
  • What do you intend or anticipate photographing? We want an image of the main character to feature on our case to show continuity and create a brand identity.
  • Will you be photographing in B&W or colour, digital or film? We will be taking pictures in colour using the green screen as well.
  • What camera and equipment will you be using? Nikon Camera, Lighting Kit, Tripod
  • Do you require any props? – Chain mail, Helmet and Sword
  • Will you be using models? We will be using Michael as the main character for our designs.
  • What time of day will you be photographing, what lighting conditions will there be? During college hours
  • Will you be using natural or artificial light? Artificial light.
  • Will you be exploring any unusual angles, different viewpoints, long shutter speeds or experimenting with depth of field? We will be taking a wide range of pictures of Michael and we will decide which is best for our cover. We want to portray him as a strong and powerful figure.

35. Font & Colour Testing

Font

We will use the fonts "True Lies", "PCSeniorReg" and "Arcade" for our video game cover, the "True Lies" font will be used for the title "Evil Clutches". It has a mysteriousmedieval vibe which goes well with the text and game. The "Arcade" font will be used for the text on the back because it has a NES game sort of design which is good because ours is similar. The "PCSeniorReg" font will be used on the case somewhere as it is similar to the "Arcade" one. We want to portray a medieval theme which these fonts help achieve this aim. We got the fonts off the internet, using dafont.com

Colour Testing

The colours Ross and I have chosen are Red, Black and Blue. These colours are quite masculine which will attract male viewers as that takes up 90% of our target audience. The red is used to portray fire and evil, which our game represents with the use of fireballs and demons. The black background and outlining of text will make the text and the knight stand out. The black background is mysterious and helps with the text. The blue will be used to show variety and attract male viewers.
